There was a glimmer of hope for Boston this week as temperatures increased to 55 degrees. I know that doesn’t seem like much, but when you’ve got weather that goes to 10 degrees, it’s a bit of a big deal. So I brought out the light jacket and broke in my favorite new Shimmer Suede Authenics, which I’ve been wearing every day lately! Definitely one of my closet staples right now. -brittany

Ran into this cutie in Downtown the other day, as I strolled over to Starbucks. Meet Alejandra, a stylist (she styles Iggy Azalea), store owner, designer, and queen of all things rad. Alejandra is sporting my all time favorite Leopard Slip-On Lo Pro’s with her easy going Cali style. Ripped denim and leopard…my two favorite combinations.

How do you Create Your Mark?

By using my individuality to my advantage! I’m Alejandra, and I’m a Vans Girl. -brittany

Meet Courtney, sales rep and all-around seriously stylish individual at one of my favorite clothing brands, Again Apparel. She took some time out of her busy schedule to chat with me about fashion, food, and of course give me the 4-1-1 about her personal style (ahem..CUTE velvet Authentic Lo Pro’s, Courtney!).

How do you ‘Create your mark’?:

“By making a great first impression and always being myself. But above all things, being yourself is what makes a difference in EVERY case.

My name is Courtney, and I’m a Vans girl.” -brittany

Summer means more opportunities to show off your new wardrobe obsessions. Currently mine stems from a recent gift I received from HELLZ designer, Lanie, which coincidentally goes perfectly with my leopard Slip-On Lo Pro’s. Meet my new ankle straps, complete with metal and studs. I’ve grown rather fond of these babies…may I never lose them at any BBQ’s this summer *crosses fingers*. -brittany

This weekend my friend Jannell and I planned out an entire night of DIY’ing our shoes till we passed out. First up: the leather Spectator Lo Pro, featuring a detachable sneaker chain. (Which just so happens to be my favorite DIY project thus far.)

What you need: Your favorite sneakers, 2 types of chains, at least 10 mini key chain rings, 2 necklace hooks, a bag of spikes or charms, and 2 round nosed pliers.

1. First step is to take one of your chains and connect it to a small key chain ring.

2. Once you’ve got the first chain in place, and you have chosen your desired chain length, take your round nose pliers and open the end of the chain so that it cuts the remaining chain off.

3. Take the 2nd type of chain and connect it to the same key chain ring as the 1st chain.

4. When you’ve got your chains in place, use the round nose pliers once again to fasten the chain openings tightly. Depending on how many chains you want, repeat steps 2-4. I only used 3 for my shoes, but there’s always room for more.

5. Once all your chains are connected to the one key chain, it’s time to start on the other end. Repeat steps 1-4, and make sure to go back to your shoes so that you’re not making a chain that’s either too small or too big.

6. At the ends of each key ring, attach the necklace hooks to both sides so that they can easily be attached to your shoelaces.

7. Alas! It’s time to set your chains with a few dangling spikes on one side. I left a little chain length on the side I would be putting my spikes on for an added ‘wow’ effect. When attaching your spikes, use one key chain ring per spike.

Ta-Da! Now you’ve got yourself an accessory which will make anyone jealous. PLUS the great thing about this particular project is that you can actually use the sneaker chain on whatever shoe you want. I’m obsessed. -brittany

Late night blog lurking leads to some EXTREME inspiration surges. I’ve grown quite the fascination over these playful model set Polaroids, featuring fun personal scribbles and sketches. I guess I had to be a copy cat and do the same for my Slip-on Lo Pro’s, which I have become overly obsessed with. Hot weather…I’m coming for ya’. -brittany

Seventeen Magazine is celebrating their 65th anniversary with a breakdown of their best covers of all time. We are dying over some of the originals. In 1966 when Vans was first started Joan Delaney took the cover in killer bangs and a sequined dress. Umm… I think some of us have this exact outfit picked out for next weeks holiday parties. Well, they say fashion moves in cycles. Here are some new Sequin Lo Pro’s to match. Be sure to check out the rest, they are pretty awesome.
