We had so much fun with local high schools in Virginia Beach over the weekend as they put on their rendition of a Vans Fashion Show. Check out more photos of the show on our Facebook page, and you can see what went down all week in Virginia Beach at vans.com/ecsc. -amanda

All Girl Skate Jam at Warped Tour

At the Carson, CA date of Warped Tour, All Girl Skate Jam hosted a competition on the tour’s skate ramp as well as a mini-fashion show featuring Vans Girls clothing and some All Girl Skate Jam originals. The competition had 10 girls competing, including a seven-year-old and a few teens from Brazil. Leticia Bufoni took home the first place title as well as a Daisy Rock Bass Guitar. It was really awesome to see some really young and talented girls tearing up the ramp! xoxo allie

Teen Vogue X Vans Girls fashion show in NY!

Hello Vans girls!  It’s Kateland, your Vans Off the Wall style muse. I just wanted to update all of you on my latest Style Muse adventure. I was flown to New York City for the fall 2010 Vans fashion show at the Teen Vogue Haute Spot. Helping to prepare for the fashion show I got to meet some great people such as Anna Sherwood and James Munzer from Vans, Ali Gorman and Sarah Kuhn from Teen Vogue, the stylist James Worthington, and photographer Ryan Bailey. Below is a little journal I wrote up of my time in New York.

[August 26, 2010 – Day 1]
When I got to the hotel I got a chance to catch up on some emails. While I was catching up on e-mails my boyfriend, Ben, went across the street from the hotel to get a snack from a vender. On his way he ran into the Cash Cab! Amazing to think that there  are tons of cabs in New York City and only one Cash Cab. Great start to a weekend!

[August 27, 2010 – Day 2]
I left early to meet up with Anna Sherwood and James Worthington at the Vans showroom. At the showroom James and I looked through the Vans Girls Fall 2010 collection to style 20 of the best looks for the show. We also had one of the models, Francesca, come to the showroom to try on the outfits for us. It was a pretty long process but at the end of the day we were all satisfied with the looks styled. After a long day at the showroom I met up with Ben and my friend from New York, Mike.  Mike has lived in New York for a few years so he was able to show us a few of the hip places to see in NY’s nightlife.

[August 28, 2010 – Day 3]
I met Anna and James at the Vans showroom to pick up the collection. After that we headed to the Teen Vogue Haute Spot at The Westchester Mall in White Planes, NY.  Before arriving to New York City I custom painted five pairs of Vans shoes to be displayed at the Teen Vogue Haute Spot, so I had much anticipation to see how they would look in the displays. Upon arrival, I was in awe as I saw two pairs of my custom shoes in the store window.  The other pairs were displayed throughout. The set up for the Haute Spot was very welcoming to teens with a place to charge your phone, free products to try, laptops to surf the web, and so on.  How it was explained to me is that the Haute Spot is always traveling to be able to be able to present teen’s favorite products all over. Once there,  James and I fitted the models to the looks that we choose the day before adjusting and adding accessories accordingly. While doing the fittings I got to meet Ali Gorman and the rest of the Teen Vogue Haute Spot staff, everyone was very friendly and eager to accommodate us. Once all the fittings were complete Anna, James and I returned to New York City. In New York we parted ways and I again met up with Ben and Mike.  Since our day at The Westchester ended a little earlier than the previous day we were able to check out Central Park. On our way Ben stopped for ice cream at a street stand and guess who we ran into?! Steven Tyler from Aerosmith! Third day in New York and we already ran into two celebrities, it was pretty wild. After the ice cream we checked out the Alice in Wonderland bronze sculpture, the Central Park fountain, and the carousel.  Walking through the park was a great way to end the day!

[August 29, 2010 – Day 4]
The day of the BIG show!  In the morning I met up with Anna, James, Ben, and James Munzer at the Ace Hotel.  After everyone was there we headed to the Teen Vogue Haute Spot at The Westchester.  The model call time was at 10:30AM where James and I did last fittings. Once all the models had their hair and makeup done we had a run through of the show so we could work out any kinks. At noon the Haute Spot opened up and crowds of people began to fill the space in anticipation of the show. Shortly after opening the show began! All the models looked great and the styles James and I chose looked even better than what I had imaged. After the show was complete the photographer Ryan Bailey shot 10 of our favorite looks. I can’t thank Vans enough for flying me to New York to be a part of the show, I had an amazing time!  Thanks everyone for reading. xoxo Kateland
