On top of being a total shoe obsessor, I’ve found myself creeping closer and closer to the edge of being considered a full-on handbag fanatic. The crazier the bag, the better. With that being said, I found that the Junction Clutch is right up my alley with it’s playful design and compact size. I don’t carry many things around anyway, so the fact that it’s so tiny makes it the ultimate ‘going-out’ clutch for a no-fuss night on the town. What has been your go-to accessory this season? -brittany

Hands down, one of my favorite items from the Holiday Collection is the Skull Junction Wallet Purse.  It’s the perfect clutch to use for absolutely any occasion.  Usually clutches are more of a feminine piece, but the skull imprints and faux leather material make it edgy.  Talk about my kind of style… I bring it everywhere.-alyson

DIY Lace Cat Ears

I’ve gone back and forth with myself these past few weeks as I’ve tried determining this year’s Halloween costume. All I really need is a costume that makes an impression, while being friendly to my dear buddy, the wallet. PLUS - it would help if there were some aspects that I could take away and wear on an everyday basis. Alas! I opened up the shiny pages of Nylon and was immediately inspired! I decided to become a cat and create my own lace ears, as I’ve seen on several blogs and magazines recently. The ones in the magazine didn’t quite fit my budget, so I kept it real DIY on those cat ears! Let’s go!

What you need: A plain wire headband (you can find one at any hair supply store), thin wire, wire cutters, lace of your choice, a hot glue gun, and scissors.

  1. To get started, measure out 5 inches of wire and carefully cut it into 2 pieces. So each piece of wire should measure out to 2.5 inches.
  2. Then shape your ears. You can either make them round if you prefer the “mouse” look, however I think cat ears are much more purrrfect.
  3. Cut out 2 sheets of 4 x 4 inched squares. Then carefully dab hot glue around the ears…to avoid glopping the glue, I would spread it out thinly so you can’t see it through the lace. Once you’ve covered both sides of the wire ears, gently glue the loose lace to the very bottom of your ears. I find the best way to do this is to roll the bottom lace inward so that you don’t have and messy fringe peeking out. Then, you can wear your lace cat ears year round… even if it’s not for a Halloween costume! -brittany

Leave it to the innovative Vans footwear designer, Angie to start a majorly coveted accessory trend. There’s just so much “AMAZING” in this photo as she pairs her sleek Sk8-Hi Slim’s with a pair of gold steel ankle straps. These babies may not have ventured past Japan’s stylish boarders, but I definitely spy an emerging trend coming soon to the states. -brittany

Summer means more opportunities to show off your new wardrobe obsessions. Currently mine stems from a recent gift I received from HELLZ designer, Lanie, which coincidentally goes perfectly with my leopard Slip-On Lo Pro’s. Meet my new ankle straps, complete with metal and studs. I’ve grown rather fond of these babies…may I never lose them at any BBQ’s this summer *crosses fingers*. -brittany

PHX AM

Just the other weekend, everyone headed over to boiling Arizona for the PHX AM Skate Contest. Despite the heat, it was awesome! So many young talents that blew everyone away. I had a great time hanging with the Vans crew and meeting some of our Vans skaters. Amanda and I sat right on the edge of the wall for one of the heats and watched the guys skate about 6 inches over our heads, a little intense haha. There weren’t too many ladies present at the event, but there were a lot of Vans girls! I saw a lot of the classic trucker hats as well as some straw hats (myself included.) With the sun so hot, shielding your face was a must. Check out a few of my shots below including some of the girls I saw rocking Vans gear, as well as Miss Amanda Rae squinting to try and film in the sun, and skater Daniel Lutheran, who decided to rock my sunglasses when it got too bright haha! I’m excited for the next skateboarding event! Maybe one day you’ll see me on a skateboard… probably not. I’m not coordinated enough. xoxo allie

Spring(ish)fest

This past Saturday I went to University Of Southern California’s Springfest which is their annual all-day festival that is filled with music, food and lots of college kids! This year there were 14 artists performing throughout the day including Random Citizens, Rooney, Murs and closing with Mos Def. I went for a few hours in the afternoon to check it all out. Below are photos of Steel Train and Augustana.

Since we were on a college campus and it was mainly a college audience, there were USC sweatshirts and Greek letters everywhere. I did however notice some stylish ladies in between watching a few bands, including one of the ladies in charge of the event.

It may be way past Valentine’s Day, but who says you can’t wear your heart on you at all times?

Although it is springtime in (mostly) sunny California, it was actually quite cold during the event, so lots of boots and embellished hats kept the USC girls warm.

Have you been to any mini-festivals recently? Tell us about it!

xoxo allie
