DIY: Pom Pom Necklace

It’s become a weird little habit of mine to find something that is so expensive to buy, yet so easy to DIY (Accidental rhyming, people). The other day I took a trip to the local mall, and found some fun accessories that completely inspired me, and well…you know the rest of the story. After pulling together old trim from my craft box, as well as some extra supplies left over from my sneaker chain DIY, I went to work on this fun, and easy ‘Pom Pom Necklace’.

What you need:

12 inches of pom pom trim, 12 inches of chain (or an old necklace), 24 small jump rings, a pair of needle nosed pliers, and one shoe lace.

  1. First take one of your rings and open it up with the needle nose pliers. You’re going to want to attach the end of the chain to the edge of the pom pom trim with the jump ring. Repeat this on an ‘every-other’ chain link basis. Make sure there’s enough room to slip your shoelace through the jump rings.
  2. Once you have your chain securely attached to the full length of the trim, lay it out straight to slip the shoe lace through the rings.
  3. You may notice that your chain begins to slip towards the middle, so to prevent this take two more jump rings, and attach both ends of the trim and chain to the shoelace.
  4. Once your necklace is complete, tie your shoe lace in a bow, and wear it with everything you’ve got! Cute, right? -brittany
